Globus returns after some time out due to a family loss, only to discover that you lot have fucked it all up again. Credit crunch courtesy of all this borrowing, buying of gas-guzzling cars, extending of houses, purchasing of second homes, repeat use of Ryanair....well. It's all come back to bite us in the ass.
There -is- some good news amongst the gloom though. We can blame someone else - the banks, for giving us easy lending. Or Gorgon Brown or Dubya Bush, because it's fun to blame them for just about anything. Besides, due to the credit crunch, the US election is no longer boring the crap out of us in all the headlines.
Embarrassed yourself lately? Take heart, as you probably didn't do anything anywhere near as embarrassing as the head of Iceland's central bank, who issued a statement announcing a 4 billion Euro loan from Russia, when Moscow hadn't actually agreed to it. Oops. (Why all this guff about Icelandic banks suddenly, anyway? These are the people who believe in dwarves and elves, and gave us Björk. Since when did we start taking them seriously?). The world is now under less pressure to spend millions reducing carbon emissions, too - when times are tough, people don't give much of a rat's ass about the environment.
All the opponents of the Iraq war have begun to shut up - either because they've lost their jobs, have invested in all that stolen Iraqi gold, or because in the light of a $400bn bailout, a $12bn war doesn't seem so pricey after all. Some things don't change though - anyone else noticed Gorgon Brown actually looks just as miserable and dour a bugger as he did three years ago?

funny enough, the Saffers don't seem to be doing so bad...thanx to our "dear" Titho whose been raisin our interest rate like crazy in the last 2 years.......we complained, a lot, but in the end, even though we're suffering a little, i think we're much better off than most
everyone here is talking about their retirement going away...hell no one even knows if they will make it that long or how things will recover...i just go about doing my business and making my plans regardless...i am not overspent so i don't feel in a bad pinch...and i stopped playing the market a few years back when i stopped having the time to watch it closely...guess i am not all that trusting of others after all
Look it was fun while it lasted, but now everyone has to swallow their pill, and hope the government doesnt rape them... Government never gets anything right...
